View AllBolton Clarke is Australia’s largest independent, not-for-profit aged care provider. With a legacy that dates back to 1885, Bolton Clarke has been caring for Australians for well over a century, providing essential aged care and support services. Formed through the merger of RSL Care Queensland and the Royal District Nursing Service Victoria, Bolton Clarke offers a comprehensive range of services under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), aged care, and healthcare sectors. To continue providing exceptional care, Bolton Clarke needed a reliable and efficient integration platform and ongoing support for critical systems.
Bolton Clarke was facing significant challenges with its integration platform and overall IT services. Over a 12-month period, the organisation experienced multiple Priority 1 (P1) failures, including one that severely impacted staff rostering for three days, ultimately affecting patient care. The integration platform lacked high availability, making it prone to instability, and there were no standardised integration designs in place. Additionally, Bolton Clarke had limited in-depth architectural expertise, which increased the risk of service disruptions. The organisation needed a more stable and reliable integration system, as well as a comprehensive support structure to ensure continuous service improvement and mitigate future risks.
Adaptiv conducted a detailed Integration Assessment to identify the root causes of Bolton Clarke’s system failures, focusing on memory issues and platform inefficiencies. After diagnosing the problems, Adaptiv developed and deployed a fix into production to restore stability to the integration platform.
Beyond solving immediate issues, Adaptiv also provided ongoing support and managed services to ensure long-term operational reliability. This included implementing monitoring and documentation processes to track system performance and ensure transparency. In addition, Adaptiv delivered ITIL-based service management, which helped improve service delivery and maintain quality standards across the board. Architectural services were also provided to increase the design quality of future integrations, lowering the risk of further project failures.
As a result of Adaptiv’s integration and managed services, Bolton Clarke saw marked improvements in system stability and service reliability. The P1 failures that had previously impacted staff rostering and patient care were resolved, with the root causes effectively addressed. Bolton Clarke regained confidence in its integration platform, avoiding the costly alternative of replacing the system entirely.
With enhanced architectural services and continuous support, Bolton Clarke’s integration platform now operates with increased design quality and greater reliability, reducing the risk of future failures. The strong, stable IT environment provided by Adaptiv enables continuous improvement, empowering Bolton Clarke to focus on delivering excellent care to residents and patients.
