Estia Health secures resident data and optimises integrations with Adaptiv’s Azure solution

Client Overview

Estia Health is a leading provider of residential aged care services, operating 75 care homes across South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland. Each year, Estia cares for over 8,000 residents, providing vital aged care services in a highly regulated environment. With such a large resident base, Estia Health relies heavily on secure, integrated systems to manage sensitive patient data and maintain operational efficiency.

The Challenge

As part of its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of care and compliance, Estia Health undertook a proactive audit of its data management and system integrations. The audit identified opportunities to enhance the security of resident and staff data, ensuring access was restricted to only the necessary personnel. Additionally, Estia’s applications team recognised the need to further strengthen and modernise their integrations with external partners, such as Service Australia, to improve reliability and minimise downtime. These improvements would help ensure seamless operations and data exchange across their care network.

The Solution

Adaptiv implemented a secure Azure Integration environment for Estia Health, complete with Data Landing Zones to ensure the highest levels of data security. The solution addressed the audit’s concerns by limiting access to sensitive patient data and establishing secure zones for data storage and transmission.

Additionally, Adaptiv remediated the existing integrations between Estia Health and Service Australia. These connections, which were responsible for transmitting critical patient data, were regularly failing, causing significant downtime. By leveraging Azure Data Factory, Adaptiv successfully moved all data integrations to a more secure, stable environment, reducing failures and improving reliability.

Business Outcomes

Estia Health now operates with significantly enhanced data security, reducing the risk of data breaches. The audit concerns have been addressed, and the organisation has limited administrative access to sensitive resident data. Additionally, the downtime for critical integrations with Service Australia has been drastically reduced, ensuring that Estia’s systems run smoothly without the frequent disruptions they experienced before.

The new Azure platform has not only secured Estia’s data but also resolved all issues identified in the initial security review. Estia Health now benefits from a more reliable and efficient system, allowing them to focus on delivering quality care to their residents without worrying about data security or integration failures.
